A Slice Of Homemade Pride
/ It's the 5th installment of the blog challenge and this time our challenger is pride. While I take pride in my work, my accomplishments are usually hindered by my mentality. A nagging voice scoffs at my finished product leaving me to feel like I could've done better.
It was the summer of '07. I'm kidding, funny enough I don't remember when my proudest moment happened or the intentions of its creation. All I remember is a bit of the process and the feeling of satisfaction afterward. With a kitchen to myself and ingredients at the ready, I was determined to make my first strawberry cheesecake from scratch.
The shape of this delightful dessert was beautiful. I bought extra strawberries to make a filling. The whereabouts of the filling were hidden between layers. I also placed a nice strawberry pool on top and did the beautiful figure 8 like designs to slightly blend the strawberry and cheesecake. Crushed up some graham crackers for the crust and set it in the fridge to chill. That's most of what I remember.
What was this beautifully crafted, sweet-tooth satisfying creation intended for? Possibly because it's my favorite dessert or maybe it was for a work function, I'm not entirely sure. What I do know is that it was my greatest accomplishment and not even the voice in my head could scoff at its glory.
